This project primarily focuses on the search facility in the PATHWAYS website. The aims and objectives are found relating to the drawbacks of the current version of the website. The primary data has been collected in the form of a questionnaire which helped in finding the drawbacks which have been discussed, executed and tested. While testing, errors have been found, and these errors have been rectified by investigating and observing the code of the .php files and commands of MySQL. After getting the new results these are again tested and the final results are displayed. These results can be now be enhanced as the new proposals for the search facility of the PATHWAYS website. This project concludes with some new changes or recommendations that can make the website to work more efficiently.

How tasks affect users' information-seeking and search behavior has drawn much attention in information science. This research examines the relationships among work tasks, search tasks, and interactive information search behavior. Two sequential studies taking a faceted classification of tasks as a research framework were conducted to examine the relationships. The results indicate that work tasks are significantly associated with search tasks and shape search tasks to a great extent. Work tasks also significantly affect users' interactive information search behavior. This research demonstrates that a faceted approach to conceptualizing tasks is feasible and effective. The research has implications in task-based information seeking and retrieval and personalization of information retrieval. To create more interest is usability awareness in website development, further benefits of usability need to be introduced and examined. This work attempts to identify and measure a positive correlation between compliance with usability guidelines and the popularity of a website. There is a gap of knowledge in this area and this study is intended to create a foundation for future research into this issue. To identify and measure this relationship, a sample of E-learning websites were reviewed and their usability scored using a web-based evaluation system developed during the study. This usability score was then tested against five different ranking systems using Spearman?s Rank correlation method. The results of these tests show a strong correlation between compliance with usability guidelines and website popularity. The five ranking systems also showed positive correlations to each-other and to the usability of the sites. The conclusion drawn from these results is that compliance with usability guidelines could be a way to achieve higher website popularity and visitor numbers.
The methodology aims towards an assessment of a website and prescribe a remedial to achieve more usability. This paper studies two affairs of a website - one is usability assessment and other one is remedial guidelines. I have developed a simple excel spreadsheet to demonstrate the methodology that I have developed for this study. In order to prove the concept and the methodology, I have considered a website as a case. The case website has been assessed using my methodology and remedial has been prescribed based on the assessment result. As a part of usability comparison study, I have also considered another website as a best case which is the benchmark for this research.
