Nowadays, Recommendation Systems are becoming increasingly vital to the Web users to identify products, services or contents that they might like. Recommendation Systems using Collaborative Filtering are very vulnerable to the Cold-Start problem because they operate solely on the basis of users' preferences. Hence, researches have recently proposed efficient hybrid solutions, so called “Hybrid Recommendation Systems”, that combine both Content-based Filtering and Collaborative Filtering to boost the performance. This book attempts to resolve the Cold-Start problem along with implementing a web application working based on information of users' profiles. Finally, to do business analysis, the results of questionnaires and interviews have been brought.
Enhancing the performance and automation of software agent-base e-commerce systems is an important issue for businesses, governments and individuals. The work presented here introduces an efficient and robust agent based e-commerce system in terms of the speed of returning results for buyers, and the buyer's utility and profit. To enhance the performance of e-commerce, the main three stages which greatly affect the e-commerce performance and automation were explored. These three stages are the most challenging and time-consuming ones, so using software agents to automate these stages will significantly enhance the performance of the whole system.
E-commerce, today, is a part of human communication and social system, though technical aspects of E-commerce systems are important, there are also social variables which should come to consideration, so any E-commerce system can be viewed from two main view points; Technical and Human/Social. Pure technical solutions can not lead to a successful E-commerce. In order to maximize revenue from online trade, companies must have a usable E-commerce systems and websites, which give customers a real and convenient shopping experience and good customer service. If an E-commerce system supports all the factors mentioned above, it can satisfy customers and persuade them to buy online again. It is not easy to create and maintain a system and website which satisfy customers and makes them loyal, but in the case of fulfilling this goal, satisfied users may spend longer time at website, may revisit website later and also may recommend the website to others. The main issue is how to create such a systems and websites which considered being useable. The objective of research is to evaluate variables, both technical and human/social, affecting usability of systems from customers’ point of view.
Revision with unchanged content. The pervasiveness and criticality of software applications in modern times have resulted in the demand for highly customized, high quality products in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Research in the area of Generative Software Development (GSD) aims to satisfy this demand. Model-Driven Software Product Lines (MDSPL) is a GSD approach to software development which allows developers to automatically build such products based on configuration knowledge and reusable assets. This book provides an introduction to the GSD approach and shows how it can be applied to model e-commerce systems; the intricate number of features and their interactions, as well as their applicability in the modern economy makes e-commerce systems the ideal domain for this study. The reader will gain a better understanding of the domain engineering process as we strive to define and build the reusable assets which can be used to create hundreds of variations of e-commerce systems. This book is intended for software researchers and practitioners who are interested in exploring and applying cutting-edge software engineering techniques, as well as readers who are interested in e-commerce systems in general.
Nowadays, Recommendation Systems (RS) play an important role in the e-Commerce business and they have been proposed to exploit the potential of social networks by filtering information and offering useful recommendations to customers. As the personalization service is built to present the users with highly relevant set of items, the customer loyalty of the web companies can be improved. Collaborative Filtering (CF) is believed to be a suitable underlying technique for recommendation systems based on social networks, since it harvests information both from similar products and from peer users to infer a suggested item out of many for a user. Meanwhile, social networks provide the needed collaborative social environment. The system we proposed here is the Multi-Collaborative Filtering Trust Network Recommendation System, which combined multiple sources, by using MovieLens, Delicious and Facebook datasets, measured trust, temporal relation and similarity factors. After series of experiments, we found that the performance of recommendation system with considering above four aspects is much better than considering any other single/combined aspects.
Fast growth of internet and digital technologies created several opportunities for companies. Many retail brands see the opportunity in online business and jump into the e-commerce world for increasing their sales but many of them get disappointed as they don’t understand the principals of e-business and can’t create a solid e-commerce strategy. A popular kitchenware retail brand in Turkey started its e-commerce journey with high hopes in 2010 but failed to meet the expectations for 2 years as there was not sufficient e-business know-how. When I got appointed as E-commerce Manager in June 2012, I created a B2C e-commerce success strategy, determined several indicators for tracking the progress and reported results monthly. The application and execution of the created strategy generated amazing results and made a business transformation. Monthly net revenue of e-commerce sales channel almost quintupled in 9 months. As the success of stated B2C e-commerce success model in this study is proved by a real life case study, I believe that the e-business strategies and techniques presented in this report are so valuable for e-commerce companies and e-business professionals.
Adoption of e-commerce is vital for SMEs to survive in competitive global markets. The SMEs in developing countries have recognized the benefits of e-commerce adoption. However, for successful implementation of e-commerce, awareness of various factors affecting the adoption remains crucial. This book discusses the adoption of e-commerce with SMEs in Sri Lanka. As part of basic research, the study attempts to enhance available knowledge by investigating the ‘cost factors' affecting adoption.
Written in a lucid and readable style, E-commerce and International Taxation; Legal Problems affecting the taxation of Online transactions is rich in information and discussion about problems and challenges that are experienced during this transition period from brick and mortar commerce to electronic commerce, one of them being how and through which means an online transaction can be taxed taking into account that parties are living in different jurisdiction with differing legal systems. Again the existing laws are based more on brick and mortar commerce than e-commerce. The existing ideas of permanent establishment, residence and source are almost loosing their meaning when it comes to online transacting. Goods do not necessarily deliver through physical borders but abstract one.The book will prove very useful to the reader and lay a foundation for further discussion.
This book presents an overview of the global legal challenges to e-commerce development with emphasis on West Africa Economic Community (ECOWAS). It makes a comparative analysis of the adequacy and effectiveness of the emerging e-commerce legislation in the United States of America (USA), the European Union (EU) and the West Africa Economic Community, in promoting and facilitating unhindered e-commerce development regionally and internationally. The book primarily focuses on the key legal challenges surrounding electronic contracting and electronic signature in order to deepen the understanding of the key issues that should be addressed in formulating enduring uniform e-commerce legislation for developing nations and regional economic blocks as they struggle to take advantage of e-commerce to boost trade and commerce nationally and internationally.

How do organizations go about developing security specifically for e-commerce? The rush to implement exclusively e-commerce applications and infrastructure solutions has been waning over the past decade even though the online security issues have been taken as the afterthought to this context. Most of the security problems are a result of using Open Networks, Poor Software Design, and Integration of large systems without concern for security. However, with so many security options available, many organizations are not so keen in struggling to identify the best ways to counteract the threats they face. Unfortunately, for many of these programs, managing security risk has become more about quantity than quality. As it has matured, the e-commerce security discipline has not very well progressed in recognizing the importance of things like holistic approach to securing e-commerce technologies, processes, people, and other organizational factors on an enterprise scale. The analyzed problems above largely categorized as e-commerce security dilemmas and they are the foci of this book.
