In Death at La Fenice, Donna Leon's first novel in the Commissario Brunetti series, readers were introduced to the glamorous and cut-throat world of opera and to one of Italy's finest living sopranos, Flavia Petrelli - then a suspect in the poisoning of a renowned German conductor. Now, many years after Brunetti cleared her name, Flavia has returned to the illustrious La Fenice to sing the lead in Tosca. As an opera superstar, Flavia is well acquainted with attention from adoring fans and aspiring singers. But when one anonymous admirer inundates her with bouquets of yellow roses - on stage, in her dressing room and even inside her locked apartment - it becomes clear that this fan has become a potentially dangerous stalker. Distraught, Flavia turns to an old friend for help. Familiar with Flavia's melodramatic temperament, Commissario Brunetti is at first unperturbed by her story, but when another young opera singer is attacked he begins to think Flavia's fears may be justified. In order to keep his friend out of danger, Brunetti must enter the psyche of an obsessive fan and find the culprit before anyone comes to harm.
The relationship of the pulp and the periodontium is dynamic. The tooth, its pulp and the supporting structures must be viewed as a single biological unit. The pulpal and periodontal tissues have a close relationship, both anatomically and functionally, the interrelationships among these structures influence each other during health, function and disease, because the vitality of the tooth depends on its ability to function and not on the viability of the pulp. The attachment apparatus which includes the cementum, the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone is the working area of both periodontics and endodontics with the disease being treated in the marginal region in the former, while at the apex in the later. Dental plaque is the primary initiating factor for both dental caries and periodontal diseases. Inflammation from pulp may extend into the periodontium causing destruction of periodontal tissues. Such a periodontal lesion is termed as “retrograde periodontitis”, because normally periodontitis is caused by the inflammation extending from the gingiva in to the deeper periodontal tissues. Similarly “Retrograde pulpitis” can also occur as a result of extension of inflammation
This book is a first attempt to create integrative frameworks for the understanding and assessment of sanitation systems based on social-ecological concepts. As such, the work is part of a greater attempt by sustainability research to create knowledge and tools to better understand and explain the entanglements between society and nature. The text is organised in a theoretical and an empirical part. It first shows theoretically that sanitation is not usually understood as a complex social-ecological system – meaning under consideration of all relevant system components in both society and nature. It attempts to answer these shortcomings through the development of meta-theoretical frameworks for sanitation systems drawing from social ecology. These are namely the societal metabolism and the social-ecological regime. The second part is the application of the theoretical framework in a case study. The assessment of the sanitation system in the city of Khorog, Tajikistan shows that such an integrative framework can yield profound insights into how sustainable sanitation systems could be created.

This book is for those people who are in their under graduation or Post graduation studies and are interested in anomalous behaviour of transition metal oxide. Colossal Magnetoresistance is one such mysterious behaviour where their will be huge change in the resistance of the materials. This book is written in such a way that it will be useful for both experimental and theoretical understanding of the topic.I hope this book will give an enormous insight among students on anomalous nature and behavior of transition metal oxide.
The constant function of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is to provide market in which securities may be bought and sold and facilitate the raising of money by Government, State and Local Governments, and Public Companies. Despite the plethora of provisions and advancement made, women living in modern India are confronted with issues of discrimination, subjugation, oppression and denials. Crimes against women today have assumed the proportion of an epidemic. It is pertinent that we analyze the social realities from woman’s ‘vantage point’. The anthology reflects various aspects of women’s lives, the discriminatory practices, subjugation, oppressions they are subjected to and their struggles against the patriarchal terrorism.. It is strongly felt that understanding women’s lives, experiences of oppression , from a feminist standpoint produces more complete and less distorted knowledge than that produced by men. This is what Women’s Studies is all about. The book also seeks to address the Muslim women’s issues, Sharia and the Islamic Feminism. Shahida, has tried to provide the ‘epistemology of the oppressed’ as it gives a different view on hegemonic reality. The anthology could serve as reference material for all the students of gender studies.
Land Use/Land Cover Change has been one of the widely experienced environmental phenomena as a result of unbalanced man-nature interaction. Land which is central in our civilization is greatly affected by human interventions such as settlement, agriculture and other development activities which in turn are contributing to land use and land cover changes. The issue of land cover dynamics driven by a population influx and lofty demand for land resource are highly contributing to the changes in local environment and thereby impacting the livelihood strategies of the local people. As people utilize the land for various purposes, the process challenges their existing livelihood systems and in the long run their sustainable livelihood strategies. Moreover, land cover dynamics have become one of the principal contributing factors for climate change and global warming through altering the earth’s ecosystem. All these impacts of land cover dynamics are being experienced by inhabitants of the Menagesha Suba locality which is found some 45 kilo meters south west of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Pigments form a family of compounds of which the visual stability represents the most important characteristic. Their color can sometimes evolve, unexpectedly, from the painter’s or curator’s point of view. This evolution is an important part of investigations in the cultural heritage field. On the other side, red mercury sulfide is a pigment that is well known for its instability. For a long time, its complex alteration was studied, but its degradation process was far from being completely understood. The aim of this book is to assess the effects of several environmental parameters (light, humidity, exogenous chemicals such as chlorine...) using original artworks (six panels and two wall paintings from French and Belgium collections mainly), in order to identify factors influencing the degradation and to propose better methods of conservation.
